Does anyone know anything about pellet boilers - i would like to hear both positive and negative issues about them. Also we are thinking of having a super warm home? any responses on this
Homeowners -- What alternatives to oil heating systems would you consider? Those of you with alternative heating systems, can you tell me roughly how much monthly in the winter you pay for heat and what part of the US you live? Also, I am interested in solar options? Any info? Thank you! Wow thank, what is the best option in the Northeast, I wonder. Oil prices really are starting to scare me and we may be replacing our system soon.
About how much should it cost to update a home heating sysyem, and electrical systems?? I have house built in 1940's it still have the old fuse based electical system, and a very old ineffienct heating system, i would like to update these systems, but can't afford to pay an arm and a leg to update systems. Any ideas on which system should be updated first, and about how much to update. The house is in Virginian, town called Danville.
Hy. I want to know what is the cheapest heating systems in different countries? I want to know what heating system is cheapest in different countries. For example in my country the cheapest is wood or pellets but they have few inconveniences as transport, heavy work for preparing, not very long autonomy, etc.The best price for heating and very comfortable is natural gas, but is a little bit more expensive then wood, and the most expensive are electricity and LPG. I want to know if in your countries are the same or there are differences.
If within 10-20 years we perfected cars and heating systems that required no fossil fuels, what would happen? Let's remember that if such technologies were perfected, they would soon spread throughout the entire world. Even counties that seem to be behind the USA - like China and India - would soon convert to these technologies. So, if within only a matter of years most cars and home heating systems worked with an energy source other than oil or fossil fuels, what would happen to the worlds economy? What would happen to the Middle East? Would the short term consequences of this be bad?
How could Ricketts use service to differentiate its heating systems? Ricketts Heating and Air installs natural gas-fired central heating systems with timers. In the wintertime, if the owner of a system wants to have the house cooler when no one is there, but have it heated back up before anyone arrives home, he or she can use this timing system. How could Ricketts use service to differentiate its heating systems
Is there some news about ammonia heating systems? Ammonia conversion into hydrogen gas is easy. Hydrogen can be used with natural gas heating systems without problems. Ammonia price around 300 $ / tonne Ammonia heat more than 3000 kwh per m3(600-700 kg). Are there some news?
Who knows about new heating systems under floors? Hi! I heard about new heating systems to be placed under the floor with no heaters, just plumbing. Do you know if these work? Is the house very warm? Is it better for a house in the country in a very cold place to use the regular heaters?? Tx Manu Tx.... do you think that are actually warmer than the regular ones?
heating systems for birds outdoor in Europe? I am looking for a heating system for birds (kind of parrots family). In the winter (now) its getting below 0 degrees. We have build an outdoor cage for the birds (wooden) and need to set up an heating system consuming low energy cost to a reasonable price. Has someone experience and/or solutions. Any recommendation would be welcome.
Any comments on "staple up" hydronic heating systems in very cold weather areas? I am thinking about installing a staple up system (PEX secured to underside of the floor) using heat transfer plates and insulation. After insulating and skirting the crawl space will this type of system work eficently in cold climates? Also what kind of T.D. can I expect? I will have a fuel oil boiler and probably a Heat Link control system with the G.P.M. calculated. The house is two stories and 1600 sq.ft. Thanks.
do forced-air heating systems use refrigerant? im trying to figure out the difference between a heat pump system and a forced air heating system. yeah, but my question is more specific to the way it heats the air. does a forced air system use refrigerant like a central system? because i have a heat pump system that has a compressor and condenser outside too. i am getting my home inspection license and i need to be able to distinguish the two.
pvc pipe on hot water heating systems? I have to re pipe my hot water baseboard heating system can I use pvc plastic ?? which is the best pipe to use the standard baseboard will be copper and the boiler manifold will be copper the system is water not steam
Can Under floor heating systems be incorporated to existing concrete floored School buildings? The existing concrete floor school buildingis 5000 Sq.m in area with 3 storey's, located in Scotland. The space heating of the building is being served with a boiler located at the basement. Can this existing boiler be used to supply under-floor heating? If yes, can the heat distribution be controlled, for example by users or sensors? How much floor thickness would the heating coils need? Is it going to be very costly or would it serve to be a good solution in the long run? Can the heat radiated from the floor, be re-captured in the ceiling and assist in heating the floors above, hence saving energy? Are there any better solutions for heating an existing building built in the 60's in Scotland, rather than under-floor heating? I was attracted to under floor heating since, it does not consume the space required by the radiators, and that it may be expensive to install, but worth it over a period of time.
geothermal heating systems? I would like to upgrade my heating system with this. I know about it. I just cannot find a company in my area that installs them. Is there a web page that the government has so I can get this done.
My heater wont work anyone know anything about home oil heating systems? My home heater runs off oil today it has started acting up we thought we had just run out cause it had shut off on its own but it wasn't really all the way empty so we had it filled and my husband has had to prime it several times (suck the air out with a hose although it doesnt seem theres a lot of air) and after that it will run a cycle then shut off again and not come back on I know this is a complicated question but anyone who has experienced this or something similar and could give any advice would be appreciated thanks. The filter was clogged but he cleaned that out and it ran better for a while but it still shuts off. I would love to hire someone to fix it but its 10:30 at night and the wind chills gonna be below zero so was hoping for a quicker fix lol
How would you increase building interior energy efficiency using the same heating and cooling systems? In other words, how would you lower heating and cooling output of your existing AC/Heating? Doors, windows, and vents are already weatherized, and lighting, electrical Appliances, and plumbing fixtures are at maximum efficiency, and standard r-value insulation is installed around the building exterior walls.. The only issue is how much heat and cool air in the building is escaping through the building walls, floors, and roof.
wireless remote heating systems? I have a cottage in the country and want to be able to switch on and off the heating either by my phone or computer. has anyone tried to do this and can recommend a suitable low cost easy to install system
Asbestos in central heating systems? I have had a new fan fitted into my central heating system, would there be asbestos in a central heating system and when was asbestos banned in central heating systems. It looks like a modern centrla heating system
Kalirel Heating Systems? I'm thinking of replacing my old storage heaters with the Kalirel remote controlled system (http://www.calo-confort.co.uk/index.html) They claim to be much more efficient than regular heating. I'd love to know if anyone has these installed and what they think of them. Are they worth getting?
Are Apollo heating systems problematic? I have an Apollo hydro heat system. I have been told there is a risk of the coil leaking causing damage. I have also been getting a lot of flyer's from HVAC contractors saying the same thing. Are they just trying to make business? Has anyone had an Apollo system leak and cause damage?
Where can you buy the duct work for heating and air systems? We are planning on finishing our basement. We want to move the duct work over to the side of the house. I know this will cut down on efficiency, create drag, but it will only be about 6 feet, and I need two 45 degreed angles to do it. I have looked & looked but can't seem to find it anywhere. Has anyone moved the duct work themselves, if so where did you get the materials, and how did you go about it. Thanks
sensowarm (?) heating systems for flats ... how do they work? i'm not sure if i've remembered the name correctly. it's a system where all of the boiler business is tucked away behind one of the radiators so it's good for flats with not much space. does anyone know what the name is and how they work? are they really dated now ... i couldn't find anything under any variation of the name when i googled it. thanks
