Does Anyone Think That There Was Ever A Civilization So Advanced, That They Had Instant Heat&air-conditioning?

Unless the civilization before us had a bomb, or destruction so massive it literally made the earth un-inhabitable for 3 billon years.. wait that still fits in the time line…
earth.. 3.6 billion years ago, oldest possible man.. 40,000years ago.. hmm
hmm..lets try again… okay unless like there was a big bang that was so powerful it literally moved the stars.. wait that could have happended to.. no one knows what caused the big bang.. or ‘outward movement of the universe/expansion’.
honestly its very possible.. but untill we have hard proof its only speculation…

Geo-thermal Heating (and Cooling) Anyone Here Using It?

Geo-thermal heating (and cooling) anyone here using it? What is the good, the bad, and the ugly about it? I assume the heat exchanger or heat pump must be powered by electricity. Is the investment in Geothermal heating worth the payback?
If so, given our energy problems, seems this should be mandated on all new home construction that can accomodate a geothermal system.
Love to hear your opinions … preferably from those who own one or installs them ….

Does Anyone Know Anything About Allergies To Air Conditioning?

My GP’s just prescribed a steroid inhaler because my airway is inflamed and I am coughing constantly. He thinks it is due to an environmental allergen. I’m a Newly Qualified Teacher and the classroom I was given in Sept has an air conditioning / warm air heating unit. My problems with sore throat and constant coughing started in October and is now so persistent that I cannot speak without coughing (not useful in teaching). I’m taking the inhaler and the swelling in my throat is easing, but not the cough. What can I do to stop coughing? Do I have to rethink my place of work? Any advice would be welcome.
