Throughout the winter, there’s nothing worse after a really long day’s work than returning home to a cold home. Nevertheless, with energy costs being what they are, it is a bad idea to run your gas furnace all day, especially if no one’s home. In order to cut back energy fees, however, it’s possible to get a new plus added energy economical gas furnace that might cut costs dramatically.
Read product reviews plus always get the recommendation of contractors or different heating plus air conditioning experts. They will be able to tell you, primarily based on experience, which gas furnace selections are the perfect for you and your home. Get an energy efficient furnace with an EER (energy efficiency rating) more than 14.1. Anything lower than that is losing a whole lot of radiant heat, and increasing your costs. If the gas furnace will be connected to an Open Loop design (pushing water through the heating system, as an example), then this number must really be more than 16.0. Get best gas furnaces here.
Purchase an energy efficient gas furnace which maximizes tax breaks and rebates. The 2005 U.S. Energy Act introduced a range of great tax incentives for customers that select the most energy economical appliances they can locate, plus gas furnaces are included in the Act. Get a furnace which has built in thermostat plus climate management features. With automatic climate control you don’t have to care about forgetting to flip off your furnace when you leave for the day. Having a timer included with the furnace is even a good option, because you are able to set it to turn on or off at specific times throughout the day. Install a furnace with an Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) rating above 90. At this level, the furnace is burning approximately 90 cents worth of fuel for each dollar spent.
Always take into account, when you choose to purchase an energy economical gas furnace, whether or not or not you want to also upgrade your insulation or windows. Climate control always goes beyond the appliances we choose, therefore having upgraded insulation can help limit our energy needs.

Is It Normal To Smell Natural Gas After One’s Furnace Has Been Checked/repaired?

I had my furnace looked at this morning. The blower fan was making all sorts of angry noises. It’s not broken yet, so the repairman just oiled it until a new part can be ordered. Not long after he left (less than two hours, maybe), I started smelling a strong natural gas odor in my apartment. I checked the furnace, but there was no smell there, or in the room housing said furnace. All of the pilots are active in and on my stove, and the furnace itself does not have a pilot at all.
What could this mean? What should I do?
How Do I Add Central Air Conditioning To A 100 Years Old House?

My house is 100 years old and has forced hot air heat. The gas furnace is a 90% efficiency and 5 years old. I have a 7 years old central air condition system that is used but in very good shape. Does anyone know if I can somehow combine the two. I am very cost conscious, so I would like to do it myself.
Please off any and all suggestions.
Thank you

The igniter coil on my central gas furnace does not light/warm up. Fan blows, gas is released, but no heat.
Where can I buy an igniter to save myself a service call from a heating contractor? Will a place like Sears Hardware sell it? Do most towns have a heating store that sells retail?
Where In Western Ny State Can A Homeowner Purchase A Furnace?

My husband’s friend does heating & cooling for a living (has 20+ years of experience) and is willing to install a new furnace for us. The problem we have is that we can’t purchase a gas furnace without being a heating contractor.
The person who would install it works for a heating company, rather than having his own company, and he is having a hard time getting a furnace.
Does anyone know of a place that will sell furnaces to a homeowner here in WNY, or online to be shipped?
Thanks!!
What Makes Our Thermostat Click On And Off Continuously?

We have a 100 year old house. We had a new electric heating/cooling unit installed in the attic for our upstairs 4 years ago, and downstairs has the original gas furnace.
We have had several problems, seems I call the repairman every year for something. Our thermostat keeps clicking on and off, like doesn’t even run a second and shuts off, clicks on again over and over. We just turned it off, and dh bougt a new thermostat and changed the air filter. Was fine for a while and then started up again. We’ve called the repairman for this in the past but I don’t remember what they did/said. We’ve had three different thermostats now, don’t think that’s the problem??
