I rent a house and my furnace is broken. I have 3 kids and we have been without heat since Wednesday night. ( 5 nights now). My landlord has had someone look at it and the repairman claims he has to order parts and will not be fixed until the end of the week. At that point it will be well over a week with no heat. Landlord hasn’t offered me a heater or anyway to stay warm. I have nowhere else I can stay. Can I deduct money from my rent for the time I was without heat ? I live in NY.

because of this? without losing my assistance? A repairman told my landlord is was inadequate for this size of apartment, I don’t believe he is going to replace the unit. I moved in in Feb and it was freezing with the furnace on (it pretty much ran non-stop, and I only like the heat at about 65 in the winter) and now when it’s 85 out and I run the a/c it’s usually like 90 in here. I just don’t know what to do. I start school in the fall and really need the assistance. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks!
How Can I Make My Landlord Fix My Heat?

It has been broken for weeks along with many other things. He picked up his rent $ yesterday and fixed everything but the furnace. I have told him for weeks about this, and not it’s bitter cold and I can’t live with it. Yesterday he said someone was coming to fix it, then 5-6 hours ago he said that he was getting ready to call the repair guy.
If the repairman doens’t show up today, what should I do?
Can I Break A Lease On An Office Space If The Landlord Has Been Slow In Providing Us Heat?

I am renting office space in a converted warehouse. The contract specifies that heat is included in the rental price, and that didn’t matter in the summer. Now it’s December in MA, and we are still without heat. The landlord has worked with a heating company and all the ducts are in, but they are having trouble getting their heating contractor to finish the job. It is too cold in there to work. Do I have any recourse? Can I break the lease because there is no heat now, even though they have promised for several months that heat is coming? Any help with this is appreciated.

If the repairman doens’t show up today, what should I do? A blizzard may be coming through by the end of the night.
