Where In Western Ny State Can A Homeowner Purchase A Furnace?

My husband’s friend does heating & cooling for a living (has 20+ years of experience) and is willing to install a new furnace for us. The problem we have is that we can’t purchase a gas furnace without being a heating contractor.
The person who would install it works for a heating company, rather than having his own company, and he is having a hard time getting a furnace.
Does anyone know of a place that will sell furnaces to a homeowner here in WNY, or online to be shipped?
Thanks!!

  1. Dr. Feelgood says:

If you know the unit you wish to buy, or at least, the size and type of unit you are looking for, you may find it on the internet. A company from another state, and have it shipped to you. About 6 years ago, i had the same problem in Illinois. I was trying to buy a boiler, and all the suppliers would not sell to me…. then, about 3 years ago, I found a supplier that sold one to me… not sure if laws changed here or not. I was going to buy one from out of state, but managed to find a local to do it. Cant your friend in the heating business buy it for you? Try tracking a heating person on Craigslist, and perhaps they may help you. There are numerous out of state suppliers for furnaces. Most carry the big, poplular manufacturers.
